Afterbirth: It's whats for dinner
So, when my nephew was born a few weeks ago, my mom informed me that my sister-in-law was taking her freeze dried placenta in pill form. My first reaction was disgust, but once she told me about the possible health benefits, it made me reconsider. Some practitioners believe eating the placenta can help prevent postpartum depression, as well as stimulate milk production. Here is a time article explaining the process. Definitely watch the video, it is pretty funny. Then, let me know your thoughts. Should I eat my baby's placenta?

If it could help prevent ppd I say go for it! It's still kind of nasty though, but that's only because I just saw mine 7 months ago. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I talked about it to my ob today. She said she doesn't think there is even an organization that provides the service in our area, so it may not even be an option. I'm not too disappointed, I was kind of grossed out by it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you talked to your ob - I know that most animals eat their placenta, but I think it is more for nourishment reasons than the other health benefits. Anyway, more power to Alexis and Fox, hopefully, it is working!
ReplyDeleteOkay, the video was pretty gross, but if all I saw were the capsules after it was all done I would probably take them. It's all a part of your body and if it is helpful to you and the baby I would go for it - if you could find a way!
ReplyDeleteGood luck - Love you!
